Rome Is Under Attack!
Immerse your pupils in the drama and excitement as they join Titus Flavius, a brave Roman Centurion, on his mission to avenge his fallen soldiers and recruit new fighters to defend the Roman Empire. From marching in Roman formations to wielding Roman weaponry, this experience will bring Roman history to life in a fun and engaging way.
A Message from the Past…
Through a message from the Time Machine App, a revolutionary tool that brings figures from history to the present day, the pupils will receive an urgent call from Titus Flavius.
The Roman soldier’s cohort has been ambushed by an enemy tribe, and he needs their help to return to the Roman fort. Will they answer the call and assist him in his mission to defend the Roman Empire?

A Roman Soldier’s Training
Titus will guide pupils through high-energy, hands-on activities that test their physical and mental strength.
Your class will experience the demanding life of a Roman soldier, from donning authentic Roman tunics and armour to learning the crucial tactics that kept the Roman Empire at the forefront of history. Pupils will march in formation, practice sword drills and even form a testudo (shield wall) whilst being pelted by wet sponges thrown by their teachers!

Roman Military Tactics
Your pupils will learn all about the structure of the Roman military, including how soldiers were trained, the different ranks within the Roman army and the advanced weaponry that made them formidable. They’ll handle replicas of Roman swords, shields and armour, allowing them to connect with the past physically and emotionally. Key elements, like the famous Roman military formations, including the testudo, will be brought to life in this immersive workshop.

History in Action
This hands-on, action-packed experience doesn’t just teach about the past — it brings it to life. With guidance from Titus, they’ll discover the significance of Roman military tactics, the role of soldiers in expanding the empire, and the cultural impacts of Roman rule across Europe.
Incorporating Key Roman Themes

Pupils will develop a deeper understanding of how the Romans influenced architecture, governance, and daily life in ancient Europe and beyond.
By the end of the day, pupils will not only have learned about the fascinating and often brutal history of Rome but will have experienced it firsthand through physical engagement and immersive activities. The Benefits of Active Learning of History
Teaching history in schools offers a wealth of benefits that go far beyond simply memorising dates and events. It fosters critical thinking, as pupils learn to analyse and evaluate historical sources, building skills that are essential in every subject. Studying history also enhances understanding of culture and society, helping students appreciate the impact of past events on modern life.
History classes, whether focused on ancient Greeks or Romas, ignite curiosity and provide valuable insights into human behaviour, conflict, and innovation. By engaging with history workshops, pupils gain a sense of perspective on current global issues. They understand how teaching ideas and lessons from the past can be applied to address challenges today, from governance and justice to social change.
Moreover, exploring history helps pupils see the interconnectedness of societies, sparking a deeper interest in education and history as they connect past events with contemporary issues. Teaching ideas for history workshops can inspire pupils to think creatively and critically about the world, making history a lively, engaging subject rather than a dry recount of facts. By bringing history to life with immersive experiences, such as re-enactments and historical roleplay, we ensure that pupils develop a lasting understanding of history’s relevance and importance in shaping the world around them.
